Several former clients of the lobbyists now serving in the Trump administration—among them Pam Bondi, Sean Duffy, and Susie Wiles—reported lobbying the offices those officials now oversee in the first quarter of the year, underscoring the revolving door between private and public interests at the heart of the government.
Attorney General Bondi previously worked as a lobbyist with the Trump-aligned firm Ballard Partners from mid-2019 into the fourth quarter of 2024, where she lobbied for dozens of clients, including Amazon, for whom she lobbied in the first half of 2020. As part of the team at Ballard on the Amazon account, Bondi lobbied Congress, the White House, and other agencies on issues including surface transportation, IT modernization, and trade policy.
Now, Amazon is lobbying Bondi’s Department of Justice on topics like copyright reform and intermediary liability, consumer protections like privacy and law enforcement access, and labor issues including contracting and minimum wage.
