The agency in charge of enforcing campaign finance laws is once again poised to lose its ability to function, as Republican commissioner Allen Dickerson, a Trump appointee, is reportedly planning to announce his resignation from the Federal Election Commission. His departure on April 30 will leave the agency without the quorum it needs to conduct enforcement actions, issue advisory opinions, or promulgate new regulations, effectively paralyzing the agency ahead of the midterm elections.
